does what it should! Some of the other reviews say metal mags may fall out. I've been using hockey tape on my metal mags for a while to improve handling and it holds super tight in this insert. so retention isn't a WTF issue. get your shit sorted. All my other mags fit and hold perfectly, as well as a UV-5r with an extended battery. All in all this is a great option.

I am a huge fan of whiskey two four stuff been buying materials and gear for a while now and I’ve never felt bad about my purchases. This magazine holder is close to perfect. it offers great retention. I can Easily index magazines if necessary and it was set up perfectly for my ferro Dope pouch. However if I could improve upon it in one simple way it would be to use some of the “hank” or hypalon lining like what is used in the wtf elastic insert 401 for the spiritus mk4 setup. That thing having the rubbery material makes it just snug and “sticky” enough to lock mags in with better friction vs this not having any and they seems to be less “locked in” if that makes sense. Otherwise I’ll continue to purchase gear from wtf

Actually in stock most of the time unlike Spiritus! A bit roomier than the Spiritus inserts so when using metal mags you don't have much retention and they will fall out if the chest rig ends up upside down. On the other hand this works great with Pmags and gives enough retention and allows you to insert a bit easier than tighter chest rig inserts. If retention is an issue I suggest getting the Insert 401 instead, it's a bit pricier but it has tabs at the mouth so you can add shock cord and pull tabs for bungee retention.

Great insert. I’m using it as a shingle on my slick carrier with Velcro cummerbund. It’s well made and keeps a low profile. Great product.
